The Dawson Society is proud to present The Lumina Choir singing the music of Ola Gjeilo and Maurice Duruflé.

The Lumina Choir is a WA based ensemble, specialising in sacred choral music. The choir has been active under various names since 2009 and, under the direction of Cameron van Reyk, the ensemble has developed a reputation for exceptional quality in sound and performance.
Each of the ensembles nine members have extensive experience in music and are passionate about performing exquisite choral works which range from the polyphony of the renaissance period to composers of today.
In recent times Lumina has sung at St Patrick’s Basilica, Fremantle by invitation of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Notre Dame Australia, and premiered a Mass setting by the Benedictine monk, and founder of the New Norcia Monastery in Western Australia, Rosendo Salvado (1814-1900) at the Bicentenial Foundation Day Mass at New Norcia.
Lumina’s sound has been decribed as “crisp, clear and energetic and adds great solemnity to an occation” – Rt Rev John Herbert osb, Abbott of New Norcia
The night will also feature a solo performance of Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in B minor BWV 544 by Alessandro Pittorino, an organist who combines musicality and personal style in his performances. The 20 year old, born and raised in Perth, has been sweeping audiences off their feet with his skilful playing, heart-warming musicality and incredible stage presence. Alessandro performs all different styles of music on the organ, from the works of Bach, Franck and Liszt, to Leroy Anderson, Leonard Bernstein and the Beatles, as well his own compositions and improvisations. Alessandro is currently in his final year of the Bachelor of Music degree at the UWA School of Music, studying with one of Australia’s most accomplished organists and instructors, Annette Goerke. Alessandro holds the position of Organist and Director of Music at St Mary’s Church, South Perth, and is organ instructor at Christchurch Grammar School, Guildford Grammar School, Hale School, and Perth College.
